Truman Capote's "The Thanksgiving Visitor" was originally published in the November 1967 issue of McCall's, then in book form, then produced for television -- all within the same month. (How'd he manage that?) Written 11 years after "A Christmas Memory," Capote returns to the Monroeville of his childhood. Like "A Christmas Memory," we see Buddy's deeply intimate relationship with his dear Sook. Unlike "A Christmas Memory," we see the dark torment of Capote's youth. Starring Geraldine Page as Sook (she won an Emmy for her performance) and Michael Kearney as Buddy. Adapted for television by Capote (who also narrates) and Eleanor Perry. Directed by Frank Perry. Thank you Idlewild for all the family memories over the years, we know you'll be open for at least another hundred years. Story book forest reminds us of our childhood days, we love gazebo stage and hillside theater days. The wild mouse makes us laugh and scream, we just love all the different kinds of foods and ice cream! You're rated Number 2 in the world which comes as no surprise, but you're surely rated Number 1 in our eyes. Christmas in July creates times that are merry, while Halloboo in October is only a little bit scary. Raccoon Lagoon is quite a treat for the little ones, and Soak Zone provides water fun by the tons. We travel 175 miles from Erie to Ligonier so we can enjoy! We love all that Idlewild has to offer, it's better than any toy! THANK YOU!!

Time-Life Music: Treasury of Christmas - Holiday Memories Specifications
Even though it includes some of the same songs, this isn't the Time-Life Christmas collection advertised annually on TV. It's actually a budget version of that anthology, and not a bad deal at all. Some may argue it's missing the two Elvis Presley tracks found on the three-CD TV version. Others will contend that any self-respecting Christmas music aficionado probably already owns (or should own) Elvis's wonderful '57 Christmas Album. What's attractive about this one is it gathers a lot of classic singular performances in one place--a tad too much Bing Crosby, perhaps, but also the original hit versions of "Jingle Bell Rock," Eartha Kitt's "Santa Baby," Burl Ives's "Holly Jolly Christmas," and the Drifters' "White Christmas" (the blueprint for Elvis's version). This is a terrific cross section of seasonal sounds. --Bill Holdship
